Home > Kelly Yeats Hoover
Kelly started working with glass as an artistic medium in 2012, after taking a glass fusing class in Arizona. From the first few minutes of this class, she knew she had found the medium she would work with moving forward. Her hobbies had now had moved full circle with this fascinating medium devised of silica sand, sodium carbonate and other elements, depending on the color desired.
In 2013 Kelly relocated to the Portland, Oregon area, where her glass supplier is located. She now goes directly to the supplier’s factory and hand selects each piece she uses in her designs. Kelly uses anywhere from clear glass to special production glass in her designs. There are also accessory glasses, including dichroic glass, glass enamel paints, silver and copper foils to accent the base glass.
The actual designs Kelly has are always morphing and changing, particularly because she likes to experiment with color. Most of her customers have been intrigued by her techniques, so there will always be current techniques that continue throughout.
