IN HIS OWN WORDS…
Painting is the process that allows me to visualize ideas and respond to space, forms and color. It is my vehicle for expression.
Since graduating from University of Oregon with a BS in Fine Arts in 1970, until now, I have sporadically created paintings and have mostly kept them to myself.
My instructors at U of O, along with discovering Morris Louis, a 1960’s Washington DC color painting, inspired me to get rid of brushes and use paint rollers and silkscreen squeegees to apply the paint to raw canvas stapled to the floor. Over the years I have experimented with many styles, but I always come back to that method.
My painting process is organic and reactionary, building and responding from layer to layer until I reach the final destination.
